Ohm's Law for a diode, relates the current through the diode to the voltage across it, by an exponential relationship, the 0.7 volts is just an approximation, and it really depends on where on that curve you are.
With a reverse voltage then the current should be zero, but really it is just a minimal value so the circuit should be "off"
The next question is how and when do you reverse bias that diode in the circuit, at what point in the pulse train? It is reverse biased when the voltage on the secondary is lower than the voltage on the choke at the end that connects to the diode.
But since voltage is relative it becomes more unclear, you have to choose a reference for the circuit, which may or may not be grounded on the secondary side.
I think a differential probe across the diode would be a useful step.
You will have to figure out the VIC so you are applying amp restricted voltage across the water before you can get the SR working. For that reason it is a post wfc spin off technology, and not really worth it to focus on first...
That bottom picture with the bridge rectifier is clearly not part of the dune buggy system. All that can be determined is that it was for a system being built around the same time, as it uses the same aluminum heat sink as the VIC coils.
The steam resonator has a reference to "resonance" right in it's name! Resonance is used for amp restriction and particle oscillation between the plates.
hey tony look great! here is a tip, i wound on the 30 gage wire, at the end i soldiered on an 18 gage wire and then wrapped the 18 gage wire around 1-2 turns and taped it down securely, the 18 gage wire is easy to handle outside of the coil for making connections
This 3-23 vic, apparently uses 25 mA out of resonance, and then drops down to 1-2 mA, so not much power being sent through the core. Voltage is unknown, but from the control patent, a guess might be around 650 volts, with mentions of 2000 volts and 5000 volts...

Also if you are not using an SCR with this 8xa system you will get a different response, because a SCR is like two transistors in one, changes the interaction, to what end, is up for research. He did switch to a transistor in later systems, but there are also other fundamental changes to accompany that transformation.
Stan also mentions the water molecule as a micro capacitor, and when it is stretched, the dielectric properties increase, because if the lone pair electrons on the oxygen are father away from the hydrogen atoms then the dipole increases. This may be related to the capacitor effect you are referring too.
I experimented with the 8xa last summer, videos on youtube, and will be doing so again in the future, now I have a scope and some more ideas, Kali, would you like to get yourself a projects section and share a few things about your 8xa? I'd like to learn from your experiences here too

If you measure only the Black coil at say, 1 H (random value), and then only the Red coil, will be 1 H as well, and then if you connect as shown, you will measure 4 H from A to B
so this can be used to increase inductance of a given coil for less turns, note that this considers A to B (red and black) as a single choke

for this you could have those two chokes next to each other on the same core or try different things...
sorry, i thought you were familiar with this guys other videos too, i think his basic idea is to have 2 cores in one transformer, the first core has a primary and secondary, and the second core only has the secondary on it, and somehow when you draw a load on the secondary the primary is unaffected, not sure how, but the idea is to pull current out of the secondary and not have it pull the load through the primary because the second core re-directs the flux around.... i don't completely get it, i was wondering if you did, or maybe anyone else?
