outlawstc,I don't think that it is a very small spot to hit,because the gate adjusting pots are only 3/4 turn.So they aren't very precise.Just my thought. Don
Cardac, what I've just posted here,is the basic idea of what needs to happen.It still is a complex process to do.But there are alot of people just now getting the LC resonance working,and making high voltage across the water.
Steve, I haven't had succes with finding the water resonance.Back when I was making higher voltage,I hadn't figured out the purpose of the gating until later.Now with my latest coil set up,I'm not making enough voltage.Stan states that at 1kv the water is just starting to elongate.So we know we will need more than 1kv.

Yes Tony all of that is a funtion from the gate signal,but it's still not the primary purpose of the gating.What your talking about uses the gating pulses,but it's not the main funtion.
What would you need a manual adjusted frequency for? We're not looking for how to make the frequency,we all know how to do that.We're looking for the reason we need gating.
The answer I'm looking for is for the resonance cavity.The EEC is not the reason for the gating.Alot of what is said is true on what the gating contributes to,but still is not the primary reason for it.

It is a very simple reason,and you will all be surprised that you didn't catch it sooner.It is mentioned in the papers of Stans in several places,but you just tend to read over it,because you think he's talking about something else.Everyone thinks this way.
Alot of what you have said is true on how the circuit works,but have not touched on the reason for the gating frequency.Some of your reason aren't right,it really is simple what it does.
Shark,there are no current spikes when in resonance.As dudleyengineering stated above thats it in a nutshell.Remember we are restricting current,if there's spikes,than there's a shorting in the cell.Not Good.
High voltage on the water alone will NOT break the waters bond,you need to get the water molecule to resonate with the gating frequency in order to pull the water apart.
To help you all solve the question for the gating frequency,let me post another one to you.Everyone is looking at the PLL circuit now so I'll touch on it here.

Tony,I once made the frequency generator on a breadboard,and the 555 output was @ 42khz.I haven't checked to see if Stan used different caps and resistors with this one,but my guess would have been the same for both. I don't see anything in that circuit that is used to adjustment for a max setting of frequency.The Gated Pulse Frequency Generator (fig 6) just adjust duty cycle,and the Variable Pulse Frequency Generator adjust frequency (fig 12).
So if you get 40khz out of the 555,then you get 4khz after the first decade counter,then 400hz,40hz.
Newguy,I don't think that the frequency should change after passing through the 74122.As stated above,it's only meant to adjust duty cycle.
Tony, vee is usually a negative value if you go by the definition.In figure 5 vee was +12 volts.When Stan used 10 volts anywhere he labeled it that way as you pointed out.VEE in figure 6 just powers the ligh,no big deal there.I don't have an image for this schematic.
Ali,the signal coming into firgure 6 is from the Digital Control Means when in auto mode,and the Variable Pulse Frequency Generator when on manual.When in manual mode it will be a square wave 50% duty cycle signal.I have no idea why it won't work in your simulator, don't have alot of faith in them when it comes to Stans work.
The schematic is correct,it's how it was on the board.Tony pointed out a wrong value for one of the resistors in the schematic I posted,did you make that adjustment to you sim?
Yes the resistor at the base is a 4.7k,I marked it wrong.The cap across pins 11 and 13 of the 74122 is an electrolytic,non-polarized.The rest are like you think. Don

What your calling foam is actually hydroxy gas.I wouldn't call it foam.Foam would be what shows up on top of the water.If your talking about the white tiny bubbles in the water,then thats hydroxy,and thats normal.The scum that builds up on top of the water would be considered foam. Don
