I'll give it a try.  It was reverting to 60hz and that was the clicking sound in the vic after a while.  My iron powder epoxy vic was a bust.  Ebay had some ferrite bars that I can try next perhaps.  The 60hz step up laminated strips didn't transfer signal power well above 500hz.  ...oh well it was learning experience...

dave, correction, the 8XA torroid is running at 50 volts from the variac and 200ma in, 200ma through the tube also.....

Hi Dave,
The voltages are as in the photo gauges, 12v in, 1-2 amp in, 25ma at the tube.  My PLL crapped out so I'm stalled again.  Gas is 1/2 that of a 8XA ferrite micrometals torroid at 12v in, 1amp in, 25ma at the tube.
I'm still thinking that it is normal electroylsis.  For example, with my 8XA I can run 3amp in and 200ma at the tube and do 100x more gas.

Dave,
That is my intention and direction.  Trying different diodes today.  I am seeing some variation in performance from several uf diodes and diode types.  My idea was to make the chokes so I could add or subtract wire to tune accordingly without disassembly.  It's all experimental.  I have observed what appears to be two distinct sized bubbles, a small even sized group that run up along the inner rod and a larger faster group that runs up the middle of the gap.  One of my next steps is to make the identical coil set up with a newer bigger fine iron powder epoxy molded core to get a direct comparison.  I also appears that iron wire chokes strongly clamp down on amps out and produce little gas.  I'm still reducing turns of the iron wire to a point were I see some response.

Dave, these are some of the things I think about and try to test for and observe.  yet, I wonder about the importance too!  meyer is so specific about the required tuning of the negative resistance to allow for building a "fixed value" sandwich resistor...  yet I find this resistance changes with frequency, voltage and waveform and other things, something a fixed value reistor may not work best all the time for, just a thought

amyway, I'm counting bubbles while watching a bulb and varying several of these factors looking for some action...

lol...  I'm a sucker for a good conspiracy and sometimes think that with idea of meyer with holding a special magic part to the system and that it is the holy grail is what keeps me tinkering around with this

my wire to earth ground is connected to between the negative tube and the vic secondary, the resistance and bulb are added to the wire running to earth ground, resistance and current flow through this wire changes with voltage and frequency applied to the circuit...

set up between the tube and secondary alone with no connection to earth ground doesn't allow for any tuning and seems to cut out power and signal to the cell.....   it appears

I'll be mixing up some resistance compounds today and awaiting my ebay resistor order to arrive....  not much discussion of this topic on the web yet it could be a key component to better gas production

I've noticed that it has been awhile since some discussion of the resistor sandwich has taken place so this thread is to keep this important area of investigation open and alive.

My current observatios show changes in the waveform, gas output, power use and is such that I shall continue in the area until I understand it to the extent that I can make use of resistance tuning as meyer indicated is required to increase gas output.

Nixie bulbs are the indicators of current flow that I am using and with adding megaohms of resistance I attempt to dim the bulb by adding resistance and hence tune and observe.

My question is????     has anyone got any idea how to make a resistor sandwich?  what was the material meyer used?

btw, two electrodes spaced at one inch apart in cooking oil show 1 megaohm while in pure water only show 100kohm of resistance.....

 this is the ferrite rod and strip vic, primary is single layer iron wire over six single insulated layers of 1000' 28 gauge, the waveform comes from this one

I've been playing around with 8 330uf capacitors in parallel at the variac rectifier to reduce the 60hz drop out in the waveform....

It seems to work well across a wide frequency range.  I L meter measure at 1.2h with seven of them bundled as a core using a standard spool of 1000' 28 gauge.  My VIC has two sets of two for chokes on the five coil setup. 

Question for Tony,  Do you get the waveform by using a second diode across the negative secondary pointing to and connecting after the meyer diode?

All,

I've made fine iron powder and epoxy cores and they will not saturate but have a inductance too low for us I think.  It is much below 400uh and works nicely for 60hz but not much good at khz frequencies.  Same experience with steel strips from an old microwave oven transformer.  Since that experiment, I've bundled and put seven 1/4" ferrite rods through standard wire bobbins off the shelf and matched the ends with rectangular ferrite strips about five high.  It works well and is cheap from ebay.
