From where online can I buy that 'Ferroxcube U core' you are using?
I would like to buy one because the flybacks I have are tiny compared to what stan was using !

Hi Don
First of all thank you for the detailed picture of the VIC.
There I can see an LM340 5v regulator and a 2N3055 power transistor (marked in red in my pic A22 and Q4)
I cannot locate the diode. Is it hidden underneath the 2N3055 or is that big black rectangle outside and under the box WK S22A2T ?
 
Now correct me if I`m wrong:
1) I assume that the serial pc connector is going to the pll circuit which may be another box located in front of this one.
2) I assume that the 4 bolt connections on top are: (marked in orange in my pic)
·                    Positive supply(+12v)
·                    Negative ground
·                    2 output connections to cell

3) I can see some other transistors / mosfets / resistors in the box which may be for Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9
4) I assume that the parts in the VIC box are the ones located inside the cryan perimeter. Signal connections from this box to the externals circuitry is going through the 'Serial PC connector' and some I marked them as green dots.
Please correct me If I’m wrong.

Don,
Do you remember if the core was light shiny grey(like tv flybacks) or dark color ferrite ?
How can we build such core ? Anyone know the process to fabricate a core let say with a usable frequency of 10khz-50khz?

Hi stevie. We would appreciate if you give us some info.
So now the question is what are the right gaps in between?
Should we place the ground mesh in the exact middle between the inner and outer tube or should it be closer to the inner insulation of the inner tube?
Attached i posted a picture with the mesh exactly in the middle between electrodes just for visual perpose.
Another thing we can notice is that we have less capacitance between the electrodes now because of the mesh area in the middle.
Something else to think about is that Steven Meyer used a 3 electrode setup  :o

Yes Don that was what I was thinking as well
To have 1.5kv on each cell you will need 15k from the VIC
Do you think it is too much for the insulation on windings of the cokes ?
I`m asking this so we may rule out some possibilities.

hydrogenmask,pin 3 of the PLL 4046 is the comparator in pin.That signal comes right from the negative side of the primary coil through a 22k resistor.Thats the small blue jumper wire on the front of the VIC board.It also goes to the ANL/FREQ switch on the front panel,and then that signal goes to the BNC test connector for scope reading.
 
Pin 4 goes into G on the cell driver circuit,and pin 5 is the inhibit input from the 4001 from the Gate Pulse circuit A.
 
Pin 4 and 5 are not connected together anywhere.If someone shows it that way,their wrong.
The 4017's are not used.

sorry Don, I made a mistake in my post I meant connection between pin3 and pin4 not pin5.
should they be connected to each other?

to pin 3 I see the following:
I see a blue wire (1st to the left going to the first 10k resistor of the ''cell driver circuit'')
Then I also can see another blue wire that may be also connected but not shown clear (right one connected to the 22k and small cap) shown in pic below.

are the cores custoum made?
I think that figs.2,3,6,11,12 are all part of the GMS unit(dashboard box)
 
I am trieng to figure out what the A26 chip of the "gated pulse frequency generator" (fig6) might be. Any ideas ?

Thanks for your clarifcation Dynodon.
Regarding your setup, did you measured the output voltage on cell @ resonance with an oscilloscpe?
If I remeber correctly some time ago you were having trouble in voltage swinging on bought +ve and -ve sides. Did you solved that issue?

To help you visualize better what stan was using in his multi VICsetup. This is a model with the corresponding dimensions as Dynodon showed when he was there:

“The core was two flat U cores about an 1/8 inch thick and about 1/2 wide. Each leg was @ 2 1/2 inches long, and @ 2 3/4 inches total width. They came together to make a closed core. They looked just like his drawings to the letter. They were a ferrite type material.
The WFC VIC coil is on a two piece U core. The cores were of a powdered metal like ferrite. It had five separate coils on it. Primary, secondary, two separate chokes,(not bifilar) and a pick up.
The chokes for the wfc vic coils were two separate coils of the same size. They looked just like the secondary; I would say they were the same size in shape and wire size.
Every coil was wound with the same size wire. 29-30 gauge.”

Wow that was a very thin and flat U core.
Do you think Stan custom built such cores? Dynodon said that it was a ferrite type material.
We need to know the approximate values for Inductance and determine self resonance.
This is to take also into consideration that this VIC is driving only a small 3inch 0.75dia tube cell.(very small capacitor)

I`v just saw your last vid 41 on youtube.
You are putting in    40 volts, 7 amps (280 watts)
you are getting out  38 volts, 19 amps (722 watts)

722/280*100 = 258%
Is that right  ???
