About the Ads on the forum, I want to say the kind of ads you have are not useful to us because we build our own cells.
consider some useful adds for people like us... for example
Ads for Books on Electronics and Physics and Chemistry
Ads for Electronic Test Equipment (scopes, multimeter, frequency generators, power supplies)
Ads for electronic parts and components
Ads for materials like SS and delrin and acrylic
Ads for copper wire maybe
If you had Ads like that, I would be checking them out all the time, because that is what I spend my money on. Ask google to set you up with those, and I am sure you will have a lot more members using them. Maybe some other members have some ideas for Ads they would click on.
Thanks Donald for these suggestetions. Google desides at this moment which adds the place.
Not sure if it is possible to choose adds....

The forumsoftware is updated, this weekend.
I also added more security to block out spiders and some less interresting searchengines.
The forumserver was overfludded by those.
The performance is improved and looks like its back as it used to be.

Hi members,
You can add your youtube channel into your forum profile.
As you can see in my profile, you notice a youtube icon.
If you click on it, readers will see my videos on youtube.
You can do this as well....That way, readers can find your videos much easier!

@Steve:
I have noticed a big difference in the performance (speed). Whatever you did, it more than doubled page loading time for me.
Nice improvement,

Please check if you all read : curve minimal at the bottum of the welcome page .
I noticed with help of Don that most of you looked to the other forum layout. All settings are changed back to what it should be.
Curve minimal is the right layout.

Dear members,
Last weeks, many forums have been attacked by several spam robots including this forum.
They try to login with the names they spot in the posts.
Thats why now all names are hidden, if you read the posts as guest.
One other thing was that because of this abuse of usernames, the forum logged automatically the user out.
Some of you noticed this....
I have installed a handfull security forum modifications last days.
If you notice any unregular things happening, then please send me a PM.
Regards
Steve

Forgive me if my understanding of this is wrong, but... Since you are trying to hide names, does it matter that the front page of this forum has all the names listed under members? And also, at the bottom of the same page all new posts are listed with the corresponding poster. Does this pose a threat too?

Hi Bubz,
The bots are scraping the names out of the posts in the topics accoording to the programmers of this forumsoftware, so there is the need the greatest.
The modification did hide a lot for guests. As you can see, no guest can access the memberlist.
The only place a guest can read names is in the infocentre where the newest posts are displayed.
Maybe the programmers will adjust that to soon.
Please logout and look as guest.
If you see anything that doesnt look as i descriped, then please let me know...
There is an option to hide the whole forum for guests and you must login first to see the topics.
This forum must be an open forum and not a closed one. But if you have another opinion, just let me know.

Dear members,
This forum has been out for some hours because of certain people thinking that its ok to hack into somebody else property.
I ll try to keep it all up and running here.

@Steve:
I am very disturbed to hear that people are hacking into your site. I suspected such much earlier but I did not say anything as I did not want to be labeled as someone who was paranoid.
The reason I suspected this was because of the asking for passwords when a user had not even logged off and was still affectively logged on. This means that a hacker may have been prompting users to unwittingly divulge their passwords to the hackers so they could intercept both private messages and their accounts’ private information.
I would urge everyone to change their passwords to ensure that their accounts are protected from snoops.
Obviously someone is making the oil barons very nervous.

The forum is back after two days of changing hardware and software systems around it.
So, no attacks or similar things.
Just man at work..

Hi all,
We changed some settings on how pictures appear on the forum, today.

As you may have noticed, is the forum pretty slow.
We have more and more people and search engines visiting us and thats a good thing.
All improvements and extra security features are demanding also very much of my current hardware.
This weekend i will install a new dell server 1950 which must solve all the performance issues. (raid1, 2 dual core intel processors = 4 processors in totall, sas discs etc etc)
This will mean that the forum will not be available sometimes, in this weekend.
The automated messages are not working at this moment as well.
Hopefully after this weekend, ionizationx will be ready for the next 4 years!
best regards

@Steve:
I was just wondering if you might consider letting us start a new trend here on your forum. I thought that we might use the entire month of May to have a donation drive for ionizationX ending on June 6th. The idea is to select one day out of the year as a day to donate to this forum and June 5th is a world wide observed day called World Environmental Day. This seems to be a fitting day as your forum advocates responsibility concerning the environment.
If we used the month of May to spread the word, then people could have time to set aside a donation by June 5th. We all have said nice things about your forum but it would be fitting for us to put our money where our mouths are.
Just a thought,
mina
