With that said I have a good well and if I could I would probably run my car on water if I could figure out how.

There are other methods, for example by using NaOH or KOH, these chemicals will make the water extremely alkaline and will eat off the aluminum oxide layer as it forms, but in this case yje leftover gunk will be more complex mix and the KOH or NaOH will still be consumed, so you need two consumables instead of just one when mercuty or gallium is used. I remember reading a few years ago about a car that would run on a handful of aluminum shavings - wondered if that is how it was done. Like you chemistry isn't my forte. Very interesting the carbon arc underwater - wonder what the amp draw is?

I have tested a few variations of this concept, using long stretches of coax, big polished aluminum plates, etc, and none of them charged a battery. In fact, very few even produced measurable energy. I wasn't able to get it to work. What's the trick for making it work?
