Grid scale battery storage

    I try to avoid starting new threads but, a search didn't turn up a thread on grid scale battery systems. I have seen LOTS of new ideas for grid-scale storage. I found one that looks great. It does not use metal.

    Hi Danny this system caught my attention I haven't read it right through and of course this isn't for folks who are not fully aware to play about with, however Its becoming very clear that its possible to fully charge LA batteries with reactive current .. otherwise known as magnetic current freely available from the ground. Or as an unwanted waste element from the grid.
    This fact along with off peak tariff metering allows the peculiar situation to arise where the electric company are forced to pay you for using all of the electricity you wish.

    Throw in the soldering iron

    Duncan, I've read about various devices and built a few. I built an 11 gal HHO cell from George's plans. I never fired it up. I would like to sell it. I have a Hatem device with 4 aluminum wheels all working. A motorcycle wheel SSG,,, A nice hairpin build,,, The Peruvian device with 4 wheels and the walking beam. I have a 300 lb flywheel for a Chalkalis or Ukros device. I'm keen to replicate the Terawatt device.

    I want to clear all this stuff out. I've got various 3 phase motors, etc, etc. I can build anything mechanical. The electrical stuff just doesn't seem to hold my interest. Dunno why.
    I've been in the groups for several years. It just doesn't seem to "stick". I've got loads of wire and batteries and magnets. I built a Pantone device. I was given some great insight into the Grey tubes. Never built. I plan to sell or give away this stuff. It just gathers dust.

    I'm just going to buy some more solar panels and give up on more complicated stuff.

    Danny, As it happens I was just recently thinking of other ways to store solar
    and wind energy into the night/no wind times respectively.

    I thought of a large mass low windage high speed flywheel, but then friction is
    a problem, with heating thermal leakage is one problem.

    I was thinking a system that can increase the static potential of something
    with no leakage and small loss to do so is the requirement I'm looking for.

    I considered compressing air or pumping water to height as a couple of ways
    to store potential that can be tapped to turn a rotating generator to produce
    proper sine wave AC power. Not "switch mode" inverter power.

    I also considered the lifting of a heavy object inside a big steel pipe (for safety),
    so that it can be let down to turn the generator, pulleys and leverage to do
    the work and hold it up when charging by steps, kind of thing. If a regulating
    valve was used under the weight the descent could be manipulated to restrict
    power (like a "gravity" piston). But the piston only goes up and down with
    excess power input and excess output power drain, it could be done several ways.

    It's all in the highly efficient engineering and design, wear and tear, safety ect.

    I'm not convinced any of my idea's are practical as yet but I am thinking on it.

    My neighbor was the chief engineer at Solar II where they stored the heat in molten salt. The earlier Solar One stored the heat in an asphalt slurry;
