Solar PV should do fine as it will be a lot less complex than trying to use steam from solar thermal. You will still need some batteries, as a "reserve" and "buffer" for the inverter.

As for the mini-hydro part, you could use the system that was documented in Thailand that uses an off-the-shelf shallow well pump attached to an induction motor, to "run it backwards" and generate AC from the motor (using it as an alternator).

Generally speaking though, you may do better cost-efficiency wise with a combo of wind and solar, depending on the winds in your area. And a mid-range battery bank.

John Kanzius disassociated and ignited water (H and O gas) with 13.56 MHz RF waves, which was the specific frequency for salt water of the same salinity as the oceans (on average). The resultant flame was over 1,500 deg. C , and the open demonstration device, that was not even optimized for efficiency, used 200 watts of electrical energy to do it.

He discovered this while searching for a cure for cancer in 2007 .

This amazing discovery was verified by both an independent lab in Akron, Ohio; and at Dr. Rustum Roy's lab at Penn State University; and reported on by a Cleveland Ohio television station, "WKYC" in two video segments and by another local TV news station in Florida, but "strangely" it was never mentioned in the national networks.

Sadly, both Mr. Kanzius and Dr. Roy have passed away and this technology immediately fell into a black hole and has never been heard from since (Penn State was involved in studying the "energy" part, but the "cancer cure" part of it that used RF to kill cancer cells without damaging healthy tissue, went to a university in Texas). After Dr. Roy's death in September 2010, Penn State is on the record as denying being involved in any way with the technology, although publicly broadcast video of the equipment being wheeled into Dr. Roy's lab exists along with interviews with several of the research scientists there (Dr. Roy was a tenured department head at that university).

Well i think the visualization shows what happens when two TRANSVERSE signals of the same amplitude and F but differing Phase are summed... but not exactly... Notice the "zero voltage" point when 180 out, and the "max voltage" when at 0 phase diff.

But it is more like a derived waveform output from an oscillator (or math software), that generates the "yellow" sine's amplitude DEPENDENT on the instantaneous value of the two summed sines... because 2 sines of differing Phase summed together don't actually look like a "clean" sine wave.

It is curious to think about, but this is not much like wave action in a pond from i can see, which to me, represents "longitudinal wave" action... it is difficult to see any "subtraction" or "addition" to the total wave force on a pond when two water waves meet... does it indeed happen? I guess it can to some extent, because after this "meeting" the waves can appear somewhat attenuated, compared to if they had simply ran their course "alone".

It does happen with "crossing seas", when actual sea waves come from two directions: they can meet and create much higher wave peaks momentarily. But the curious thing about that case is, there appear to be no "attenuated" waves from "cancelling". I get the feeling, there is no way to cancel these out beyond a certain point no matter what the phase difference is when they meet. So that may be where the "pond" analogy falls down.

Silicon itself is extremely cheap and abundant: The "expensive" nature is in regards to processing it.

As we saw with "Microprocessors" and PC "Memory", is that with Economy of Scale the price drops by literally THOUSANDS of times when manufacturing gears up for it.

So it is a situation where in 2 years a 500 watt panel could be about one third the size and weight of existing "BP" ones of the same output, and still cost about half of what they do today... possibly even less.

This lowers the "ROI" Return of Investment period greatly....to less than 2 years... the magic number.... and will be the deciding factor for small businesses and home owners to start installing them by the millions.

Partner with a licensed Roofer, and a licensed Electrician. Most States require this if you want an actual installation business.

Or be a Consultant and Systems Integrator, which requires no licenses as what you are doing is providing everything in a package (including Grid Tie circuitry if required) to a homeowner or small business... for them to assemble and install it themselves (although a licensed Electrician usually must do the Grid Tie-in). This is the way around the State laws that are DELIBERATELY designed as a bottle-neck.. Such as Pennsylvania, which requires all new wanna-be solar installers to take a 6 week course in Harrisburg and then take a test (an absurd requirement for most folks, lol and 6 weeks in Harrisburg is like 100 years in Hell ).

Every State is different, but several have done similar things... that look good on paper until carefully studied

The Big Question that remains in a "Solar Economy" is this: Are we to rely on batteries then (lol, if so then Aaron is in exactly the right business with his Bedini Renaissance Charger franchise, as it would appear that sales of these will really soar.. to a point that Mr. Bedini will have to license manufacture because they could not possibly put out enough of them)?

But there are other ways too, besides relying only on batteries. The questions with them ALWAYS revolve around trade-offs that are about:

> Cost
> Reliability
> Maintenance Concerns

Such as Dr. Daniel Nocera's plan to use the excess electricity during the day for generating Hydroxy gas. Then store the "H" (only) for use. His specific plan uses electric power cells for this, but the H, and O, could certainly be burned instead; although there is a problem with storing it together. Perhaps using two separate tanks (using a cell design that separates the gasses), then re-mixing it later at low pressures will work.

There are other methods too of storing "Energy": Running water uphill into a tank or elevated pond with a pump during the day, then run a gen from the pressure of the water dropping back down at night... a bit wasteful perhaps, but does that "matter" as much, when the energy is essentially "free" to begin with? we know that off-the-shelf "shallow well" (rotating impeller) pumps attached to induction AC motors can usually be "run backwards" as an electrical dynamo, and provide up to 20 kW.. enough to run every appliance in your house at once.

Do you know how many batteries and inverters are needed for that?

Or run an air compressor during the day to fill a BIG tank, and use the air at night. This has some interesting "climate control" features as well for heating or cooling (air motor running an alternator).

These are all "conventional" solutions... with NO controversy involved. They can be SOLD NOW to people to virtually divorce them from needing the Grid. Yet what is stopping it?

The artificially high Return of Investment period... ROI is the key. And they KNOW it. That's why we do NOT see real incentives from the US government to get those manufacturing costs down... when they have done similar incentives to DOZENS of other industries over the years, because they know it pays off.

"Conventionally" speaking...

I would think wind generators are probably the easiest and most obvious energy-producing tech for a collapsed society to build (or simply someone going off grid in a primitive situation). "DIY solar panels" still require the PV cells; but wind can use common off the shelf stuff... the biggest problem there i think will be getting ahold of the magnets to make the home-made PM alternator circuits, or for converting vehicle alternators over to PM rotors (pretty much required for use with wind as standard field-induced alternators won't work at low RPM's and are less efficient). Stripping the mags out of DC motors, maybe (or simply using the motor itself as an alternator/generator).

Micro- and Pico-Hydroelectric has very good potential for some areas. If the stream / river is powerful enough (and 10 feet of fall through a 3" pipe can run one that produces "20kW"), AC induction motors coupled to shallow-well pumps, can be "run backwards".... running the water under pressure through the pump's normal outlet to spin the impeller so the AC motor generates power.... like these folks in rural Thailand did:

I suspect the catalyst system he is using may be difficult to replicate... This "self-repairing / self-renewing" factor would appear to be not so easy to achieve unless we knew how to process the material to get the very thin film that is "self-repairing (and would appear to be the main Proprietary part of this that is "owned" by "Suncatalyx"). Without this "self-repair", he states that the catalyst molecule "dies quickly".

Again i would state, that it is kinda easy to get confused from what he says and what they are actually doing. It's not that he is "lying", but there could be a small bit of deliberate mis-direction going on

They are not doing ACTUAL PHOTOSYNTHESIS. What he is doing, is using two completely different aspects of it SEPARATELY (... using photo voltaic cells to produce electricity in a completely conventional manner; and using their new catalyst technique to help create the Hydroxy gas). So he has not created an Artificial Leaf. He has replicated SOME of the features of plants in cracking the water molecule.

So here is a "verbal flow chart" of the system he uses:

> Produce electricity using solar cells.

> Use their new catalyst material/technique that helps crack the water molecule.

> Excite the Electrodes made of the catalyst material with the electricity from the solar cells, in a water bath to produce H and O HIGHLY EFFICIENTLY.

> Capture the resultant hydroxy gas SEPARATELY (Dr. Nocera prefers to store the H and O separately in compressed tanks.. because this is LESS THREATENING to the "establishment", imo).

> Use the pure "H" to run an Electric Fuel Cell to produce electricity (that is his stated idea, but most of us here would prefer to BURN IT along with the "O")... Electric fuel cells are very expensive, and they break down often from contamination. Perhaps in the future, they will be better, but i suspect they will always be expensive.

So obviously, the conventional solar cells are not required: ANY source of electricity would do.

But look at this from a "Geopolitical" viewpoint... Unfortunately in this society, "Science" is not the most important and deciding factor for new technologies in the Energy sector: Politics, and corporate interests are. "Solar Energy" has long been "accepted", "allowed". Why? Because it was no serious danger to oil and coal This is because the cost and ROI for installing a system for small business and residential use is kept artificially HIGH by limiting production and refusing to give meaningful Incentives that would RAISE the production and LOWER the cost significantly... there is no political will to plant the SEED to get the ball rolling. And despite all the hot air and BS rhetoric, the Obama admin DOES NOTHING MEANINGFUL in this regard either.

What Dr. Nocera is attempting to do, is sneak in the "Solar" back door, while the gate keepers are watching the front door marked "Hydroxy"

Hydroxy is hydroxy.... However you produce it. It can be Energized, Ionized, mixed with other gasses, other fuels; and otherwise further manipulated.... But these things can all be generally done after creation.

So all the things we talk about here, on several other forums, in the Yahoo User Groups, and YouTubes... Could be said about THIS particular method of Hydroxy production as well.

Of course the difference here is this: It is not the usual lone inventors or garage enthusiasts who are easily ignored or attacked by shills that are doing it... It is a professor of M.I.T.

That single fact is the most important news, imo, that this genre has had in several years. And why we should ALL work to help spread this news wider.

Notice, no "Sixty Minutes" segment. No national-level Evening TV news reports either. No major articles in Scientific American. Yet he is widely known in scientific circles.. Lol this silence IS NOT because of ignorance. Many of us, including me, have informed the mainstream media of it. They cannot claim ignorance.

WHY THE SILENCE? Lol we know why. This is one has a great chance for success, that's why. And Dr. Nocera's pedigree, and the use of the word "Solar" makes it essentially "bullet proof"... They cant attack it, they cant deny it... They can only IGNORE IT and hope no one notices.

He is not a producer of anything yet.... Different company. And the largest producer of solar panels on this planet is

I cannot blame anyone for being suspicious of mainstream science lol. And M.I.T. does embody much of what is "worst", and "best" in it... Simultaneously.

We can only generalize in these things: And understand that painting them all with the same brush can be dangerous to the Truth (as in nearly all matters).

The "spin out" concept where these scientists always seem to start companies is not useful, imo... It commercializes it even before it is fully developed. It also tends to stunt research by other Universities. I dunno if this is a "desired" effect of it or not. But everything in the evil world is about "money" so it appears inevitable until we get REAL AND HONEST altruistic financial support from our governments for scientific research... and not the mainly corrupted fraud we have now.

Regarding WiTricity, this is the AC resonant coupling of magnetic fields (NOT directly transmitted Herzian waves). I would say that the person to watch on this subject is NOT the one in the video who was at TED, but

who are working with MULTIPLE receiver coils powered by a single transmitter coil. It has some interesting properties that points to a possibility of seeing small amounts of "OU" when adding up the energy outputs of multiple receivers. There is also some evidence for this basic principal being behind some Free Energy devices over the years (like the Patent of William Barbat from a few years ago, or possibly several others such as the "Hendershot Device").

Regarding Dr. Nocera's work...

You have to read what they are doing carefully, and have some background knowledge of Hydroxy to fully "get it"... Because NONE of these articles or videos will spell it out for us. This is because it is a very "radical" and "heretical" technology that would NEVER have been funded or allowed, if it had been understood by the jerks who guard the gates... If it had been stated clearly

What is so "heretical" about it, is this: The on-demand factor. The Status Quo despises it... Because it ends the hierarchical centralized distribution of energy. You cannot distribute "water" the same as gasoline.. You can no longer be a Monopoly, with the ability to set your own pricing, as the privately owned "Public Electrical Utilities" are now There is no way to "Privatize" rain water or the trillions of gallons of water in the oceans... And of course cheap energy means easy pumping of water ANYWHERE, and desalination becomes much more important. As billions of gallons of Greenland ice melts, this fresh water dilution of the oceans can be partially offset by huge desalination projects.

Dr. Nocera's system can be "on-demand"; the same as any Hydroxy-producing system. The reason they talk about storing the H, is to "use it at night as fuel" after the sun goes down (the example given is to run Electrical Fuel Cells... but obviously we here know that it could be BURNED as well). But since the solar panels are simply the method of providing the electrical energy to sustain the Hydroxy, it doesn't matter what power source is used... For instance, according to their announcement of April 2010 where they claim a "Hundredfold Increase" in Energy Efficiency in producing the gas.... a "looped" hydroxy-powered generator would be possible.

The naysayers can parse this: There is no LAW AT ALL behind "Faraday Efficiency"... IT IS NOT TIED TO "CoE" in ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. The energy created in burning H and O comes from the WATER.

It is simply a figure for a particular METHOD OF ELECTROLYSIS. Change the method, and Faraday efficiency figures are MEANINGLESS. The game as been "changed" anyway several times in the past... when PULSED electricity is used instead of DC... There is much evidence to support this can be more efficient. Now, add in the ability of CHEMICAL CATALYSTS to generate H and O as well (Dr. Nocera's system is a combination of both CHEMICAL and ELECTRICAL electrolysis; where the Electrodes are made of catalyst materials).... So making these old claims that it "cannot be" because of 140 year old Faraday Efficiency numbers... would be rather useless here

The below would be some obvious embodiments of the Nocera system:

> Produce the Hydroxy Gas from water (H and O together, and keep them together, not separated.. Just because Dr. Nocera's team does that, doesn't mean anyone else needs to). Burn the mix on-demand using a metal surface catalyst in contact with the flame front for maximum heat generation (using the unique properties of Brown's Gas where the heat from burning it wholly depends on the composition of what the hydroxy flame touches), to heat a Steam Boiler. Use the resultant steam to power a turbine generator. Considering the very high heat that can be obtained this way, it will be highly efficient and will generate enough electricity to self-run with plenty of excess output to make it worthwhile. This will be for centralized power production for industrial or mass residential use and we are not likely to do this ourselves.

> Produce Hydroxy in a portable unit to run in a ICE or Diesel-engined vehicle; either for "partial" ("booster"), or "full" 100% hydroxy fuel power. All the knowledge for doing this is out there and has been for years; it was simply waiting for the energy efficient production of the Hydroxy (and this gas can be manipulated with other gasses and/or "Ionized" and "Excited" to add "Thermal Explosive Energy" to the mix, requiring less total gas volume to do so than many claim is needed... for which much anecdotal evidence exists from several Inventors, some of which can be seen here on this Forum).

> Produce the Hydroxy at home either "stand alone / off grid", or part of a wind/solar Grid Tied system... Running a ICE or Diesel powered generator in the 1.5 to 3 kW range to provide household current directly, or indirectly to charge battery banks. Again, the efficiency of producing the Hydroxy should allow electrical energy generated to exceed that needed to sustain the effect enough to make it worthwhile. This would also allow a means of recharging EV's in the home's garage. Using leading-edge technology "pulsing chargers" would help efficiency and battery life there as well.

So when we eliminate the "Electrical Fuel Cell", a Nocera-type system could be much less costly to operate. Now, there is some worries about running hydroxy in standard ICE motors (corrosion from water vapor, H combining with the steel to make it brittle, etc). This may be true (although i personally think it is being hyped a bit). The simple answer for this is: Use these outdated motors until they "die" (or perhaps ceramic coat them in a "re-build").

In the mean time, we design ALL NEW engines made to run on Hydroxy from the ground-up. the ICE and Diesels have had their day: In over 130 years... Can't we think of anything better, lol?

You know folks, they just SAY we have to use them forever... that's not a "LAW" either
