a wild idea?

Dear all......all participants and lurkers,
What if:
Water seems to self ionize it self all the time. H2O becomes HO and H.
So, what will happen if you put ionized air (Nitrogen) thru the waterbath?
What type of gas can you create out of that?

steve i believe you will likely generate ammonia or maybe nitric acid...

I think so too.
So, how can we stimulate the self ionization proces?
Pressure? Temperature?

The self ionization process that you say is because water doesnt have neutral pH and it dissociates itself reversibly making H3O+ and OH-, if you pass nitrogen nothing will happen because the oxidized species don't exist long enough and nitrogen is a neutral molecule you will need some kind of metal catalyst to do a reaction or photoinitiation which is what happens in the clouds that forms nitric acid , acid rain e.t.c.
