    hi guys

I was just wondering if any of you guys that are into hydrogen energy have ever tried making the gas by adding sodium silicide to water?

an old friend of my father who is an retired exxon mobil physicist (the visitor not my father!) was visiting whilst he is holidaying here in the UK after emigrating to Canada some years ago, so anyway they came over to visit me in my home yesterday and the guy was looking at my various cells that i have setup in my spare room, he was really pleased to see what i was doing but on his way out he turned to me and said "you don't have to expend all that energy to make hydrogen, Research sodium silicide!" and with a wink of the eye and a huge pat on the back he left!

so i have started doing just that! it seems to be in use already! so have any of you used this stuff and was it worthwhile to do so?

Is it practical to make "sodium silicide" in a garage-lab?? It doesn't seem to be available for purchase for experimenting.

    sodium silicide

Out of all the reference, it looks like SIGNA is the only one making it - possibly.

    Here's the MSDS: http://signachem.com/wp-content/them...GNa%20NaSi.pdf

First product that used it: PowerTrekk: Mobile phone charger that runs on water | Mail Online

    Hey @arKzeRo,
The Youtube referenced is for WaterGlass(Sodium Silicate) not Sodium Silicide. Won't help you with Hydrogen generation.
