Measuring a choke you just wound

    Before it goes anywhere near the cell: inductance at 1 kHz, DC resistance, and a sweep for the self-resonant point. If the SRF is inside the band you plan to drive, you have wound a capacitor, not a choke.

    What are you using for the sweep — a proper analyser, or a sig gen and a scope?

    Sig gen and a scope, with a 10 Ω sense resistor. It is good enough to find the SRF within a few percent. The analyser is on the wish list.
