Here a couple of articles quotes,
I can't find the hydrogen use but i seem to remember someone saying a bottle would last over a year on a 5kw unit but i can't confirm it.

Just like all the solar power is now. Grid tie solar setups cost the power company
nothing but they sell the power for profit same as all the power, we buy other
peoples solar power from their grid tie setups through the power company for
full cost but they are paid less.

Even if the Ecat works it will only save money or make money for those that
own them everyone else will still pay full price in my opinion.
That is only true if the public has no options. If the public has access and can afford small individual home units of there own, the power company will try to continue to be $$ competitive enough, so that they keep there market share.

The bigger point in having a cheap Clean energy source is access to energy. There are still many places in the world that have never had reliable electricity sources. I have visited many societies that have no electricity at all! It was not cost effective to spend many millions to bring electricity to those areas. Those area continue to get further behind because this lack of electricity & the associated technologies that can even be life saving.

I for one love the idea that the E-cat (and other technologies) may bring these third world communities. Not to mention the cons/politics involved in insuring a stable flow of oil because of our dependency. Clean is also a big plus.

PS. From what I understand the E-cat uses VERY little nickle.

I believe the issue with the plugs was residual electrolyte (steam/vapor from the electrolyzer carrying the corrosive electrolyte into the combustion chamber.)

The video is edited a good bit at the point of the steam viewing. But best i could tell, the Hydrogen was NOT hooked up to the reactor.

Maybe it was just in standby mode

I did not even know about that video until Motor Guy pointed it out. I'm still not ready to write the E cat off. I'm hoping someone can explain this discrepancy and show us the E-Cat putting out some real energy.

I just saw a Andrea Rossi E-Cat video demonstration on Youtube.

A major discrepancy was point out to me in this demonstration. The steam production is nowhere near what is being claimed. The numbers dont jive with the video!

Let's call it 1.5sq cm. 3l/s through a 1.5sq cm opening requires a linear velocity of 2000cm/s. My eyeballs see vapor moving at a few to perhaps 10cm/s. Even if my old eyes are off by a factor of ten, the flow rate is a small percentage of the steam equivalent of 7l/h.

We might guess that the velocity is way off because of condensation in the hose. In that case we can translate the 7l/h to the amount of water that should have condensed on the shirt. 7l/h is just under 2g/s = 2ml/s. They held the hose to the shirt for between ten and fifteen seconds. There should have condensed 20ml - 30ml water. That's enough to make the shirt pretty wet. The shirt looked quite dry when they pulled the hose away. I don't know about you, but when a demonstration of a fantastical claim doesn't back the claim I don't become a believer."



The steam looks to be closer to 3 Liters Per Minute than 3Liters Per Second!!! Something is not right
A very small amount of Nickle Oxide last years. The hydrogen last also. Both are VERY CHEAP. The byproduct is minimal according to reports!

Toxic is relative. One spoon full of poison, or byproducts from Thousands of barrels of oil?
It really seems that a discovery should be open sourced, in multiple locations, at the same time, all the details, and testing, of a design included. The inventor could sell books with short cuts, kits, and miscellaneous parts... The inventor could also accept donations from those who benefit from the invention. I believe this could be the win win course of action for an inventor with minimal cost to them.

Now, there is one question. If some one invents a inexpensive cheap/free energy device. They open source it and do as i mention above, can they be sewed by someone somewhere who possibly has a patent similar to it?
I guess im asking how can someone know that there is not a patent out there that may cover their invention without spending thousands of dollars?


To a large degree I agree with FRC and Toranorod. The effect on the worlds economy could be huge, But that would be mainly be dependent on how fast the technology is accepted on a large scale.
We are still talking "IF" it is discovered, and for all purposes it is already here. Yet even in this small, enlightened, community it is not accepted completely. So i truly question how big the impact on the economy will be. It appears that acceptance will be relatively slow.
This video is probable the clearest presentation of a (almost) self running engine i have ever seen. Good job.

The only thing that could have been better is if they poured the bubble water out after the run, and put a fire to it, to show zero hydrocarbon fuels where involved. (but you will never make every one happy)

It would be nice if that video had details with it that explain at least their theory as to how this is happening. Cell details would have been nice, like volts, amps, temp, pulse if any, KOH concentration,... Generator details like, timing adjustment, ignition modification, why a separate battery was needed for ignition system...

I would think that the 400 watts light was more load than the ignition, but that is not addressed ether.
Anyway it does look real to me, if they just wanted to fool folks they would not have to modify the ignition system.

I guess it is a good video for the sake of showing whats possible, (like a few others have done in the past) but not much help for advancing Browns Gas technology.
