This is news to me....I was told by a local NAzi party Member (Police) that having a HHO set-up the size of mine could be considered part of a Meth LAB.....

Any ideas what he is taliking about? I know meth made certain ways can generate HHO but he was stating that people are bubbling HHO through the mix to speed up the Meth production?


Any Ideas!!!

Another source says that downstream O2 sensors monitor cat function, but that in fact, "their only real purpose is to adjust the longterm fuel maps." Maybe friend's variation in mpg is due to unmodified downstream O2 sensor signals adjusting longterm fuel maps. Fickle, resilient EFI confounding our efforts!

Anybody at all feel free to jump in...I needs hep!, as we say here in the South.
1) Anybody know if the 5.7 hemi has narrow band or wideband sensors?
2) Anybody got a working wideband EFIE?
3) Anybody got a means of modifying downstream sensors, or of quickly assessing whether the modification of signal is favorable?
4)Anybody know how much V to subtract from wideband signal?
5)AllDataDIY says O2 sensor signals are at position 31 & 33 on plug C2, DB/LB and DB/PK, meaning Dk Blue, Lt Blue and Dk Blue, Pink? Can anybody confirm this?

Its easy to determine if its wide band. How many wires?

Also I have Never heard of the post cat O2 having anything to do with the Maps. It can't because the cat would change signals everytime based off of the slightest difference in fuels. It is solely to confirm the Cat is Functioning. The Pre Cat Adjusts the Maps in the ECU.

As long as its a NB sensor you should be set. Just follow the calibration and installation instructions. Once the ECU is in closed loop it won't matter, the O2 sensor is last in the cycle of sensors.

Well, since the Hemi has a wide band, it is either use a WideBand Controller to shift the signal, or probably change vehicles. I have posted many times why modifying the Maf/Map signal is counterproductive. Google Closed Loop and Open Loop ECU Functioning. And with a Wide Band (A/F Ratio Sensor) it is even more of a waste of time and money. The "ONLY" way to effectively adjust Fuel in "CLOSED" loop is through the O2 sensor / A/F Ratio Probe.

Yes, to an extent. The circuit has to be designed accordingly also. You just can't daisy chain 10 mosfets off of any PWM!

This is being offered "By Request" This is the most time consuming step, but for those who do not have access to the Proper Size Bits or Drill I will do these for you. It will add a day or two to your order.

This is the easiest way to offer Kits that way you only get what you need...

TIPS:
* Remember allot of these components are STATIC sensitive, so be careful!

** I know this isn't the most ECO Friendly route but use 60/40 solder if you can get it. It has a higher lead content so it melts faster. This will help the more inexperienced.

*** Check the tracks and pads on the PCB. If they are touching or close scrape between them with a small flat head screw driver. This can occur during tinning.

**** Practice with the spare boards first. Just practice until you get a nice little solder pad at each hole spot. If your boards have the Blue coating over the copper, just wipe it off with acetone, or nail polish remover.

Notes:

**If you can solder 2 wires together soldering a small PC board is NOT out of your capabilities....

*** I will also be throwing in spare boards so that you can practice soldering on the boards and get the hang of it BEFORE you attempt to mount the electronics.

This would be used to make an EFIE plug and play without cutting any of the Vehicles wiring. This is extremely useful on lease vehicles!

Just get the extension, cut in half, wire it to the EFIE, and you have a clean very reliable install!

The link I gave is to a Honda but just look in the column to the left. If your vehicle isn't listed, just look at your O2 sensor Plug (right before the sensor) and remember what it looks like. Then just browse through all the connectors on their site. Im sure you will find a match because there are pretty much only a few different types used by all Manufacturers for the Narrow Band O2!

Not All EFIE's are the Same...

This is a discussion that has come up a few times, so I will go over this really quickly....

Aren't All EFIE's the Same? NO, they all do the same thing, but they don't do it the same, and some are more efficient than others. It is important to look at the components used in the Circuit. The ones running the 555 timer or a coil are NOT very good at all. These take the O2 sensor signal, intercepts it, then sends out 1 set voltage. This is not a good thing for one simple reason, Engine Load. As engine load changes so do its A/F Ratio requirements.
The best type use a Bar Graph Display Driver LM3914. This is the same IC that runs the LED's on your stereo volume level indicators. How this IC operates is it takes an incoming signal and modifies it slightly to a set level for the whole range. So if you set it for a .1 increase it will take that incoming voltage and add just .1 to the signal and resend it out. As you can see it is perfect for a Fluctuating O2 sensor signal.

So when looking into what Effie to buy look closely. If there is more than one IC it probably is running dual 555's look for (1) 18 pin IC that is the ones that use the 3914.

Due to many people asking, here is a little over view of the Key Electronics Components of a "Booster" Cell.

Pulse Width Modifier (PWM) This electronic device is basically a DC motor controller. It takes a Direct Current (DC) Voltage and Pulse's it at a steady preset rate. The Frequency and Pulse Width is adjusted by the Variable (Adjustable) Resistor and the Capacitors used in the Circuit.

* This is used in a "Booster" to control current from "Running Away" which is common in a "Brute Force" Direct Current cell. This is caused by your Electrolyte heating and therefore allowing more current to flow through your cell. Another benefit I have found to to PWM is that durring the very short off pulses the hold of the gases attatched to the plates is momentarily released giving a moment for them to slip away. This in turn can increase overall output. Also some feel that being able to "Tune" their HHO cell to a resonant Frequency increases output.

EFIE or Simply "Fuel Mixture Control" This is probably the MOST Important component in a "Booster" Application. Without it, your ECU will see to much O2 in the exhaust because of the cleaner and more complete burn due to the HHO and Dump Fuel into the engine in an attempt to Richen the Burn. This device takes the Original O2 Signal and adds Very Small additional voltage to the incoming signal and piggy backing it to the ECU. This makes the ECU think it is Running rich so it leans the mixture accordingly. It also will allow you to keep the original signal level without Leaning out the Mixture. This could be used as a setting for "Performance". You will basically be running stock fossil fuel levels with a Boost of performance from the HHO. Think about a Hilly or Mountainous area or pulling a trailer. You can preset with a Rotary style switch a few settings like this, City, Highway, Performance (Lean, Leaner, Not Lean stock) that way you dont risk engine damage by running too lean a mix in a situation when you actually need more fossil fuels.

*This is a Requirement for ANY Fuel Injected Vehicle! One device is needed for each PRE_CAT O2 sensor. V-Style engines usually have (2) and MOST 4cyl have (1)

The only thing that makes it suspicious to me is the last paragraph and then the list of people you are supposed to give money to if you successfully build and market this device.....

Other than that it looks very promising, just a little complicated to tune!
