What purpose does it serve?
I have only recently found D Mendeleev. There are so many logs on my fire now that I can barely stand the heat.
As the fires wanes I will do what I can to understand this enigma too.
It sometimes bothers me that with the discovery of petroleum no one has ever undertaken the task to find out what purpose the oil serves the planet. For example, does it absorb heat from within keeping the surface moderate? Or does it insulate from electrical shock? Is it a cushion to absorb shocks or the tugs from the sun or other passing planets? All of these questions are far too deep for me. Still, I have those questions.
I first read about the primordial waters in Popular Science in the seventies(?) when Arabia was drilling 25,000 feet to get what they were calling then *prehistoric water* to irrigate their crops. I don't ever remember seeing a followup until today. As with petroleum, what purpose does this water serve?
I'm a great believer in the Hegalian philosophy, i.e., "into every system is built the seeds of it's own distruction." I could write an autobiography here but I'll defer to better minds.

I just heard about Buhl water. It is water discovered in Buhl, Minnesota and is reported to be the world's purist water. So pure, it goes to space with the astronauts. That is what I'm told anyway. It is supposed to be trapped glacial water but I bet it is the same as Reiss's water.

It is said, Mendeleev claimed an element much, much smaller than Hydrogen H, which should belong to the noble gases group, to Helium group.
Do you know about, and have you ever seen that origin table in I-net? (Without removed element).
