There are several articles out there about scientists creating hydrogen from microbial bacteria and biodegradeable materials. They claim the yield is far greater than using traditional electrolysis. There is an added benefit of producing clean water from waste water as well. It may seem "less sexy" than traditional electrolysis because it uses waste but the yield is excellent!
I would love to hear some other ideas about making/extracting hydrogen because the mainstream methods seem to be almost beat to death already.
