Alternative rotating-field DC circuit (FIG. 5) generates uni-polar pulses via three secondary windings
In FIG. 5, a low battery voltage drives primary winding 42 of a rotating field (grounded at opposite end); as the field rotates it induces three pulses per revolution across secondary windings 46a, 46b, 46c, rectified by diode bridge 65/67 into uni-polar pulsating d.c. voltage applied to exciter plate pairs 50a-50n.
